The magnificent city of Hammerhal is one of the greatest bastions of Sigmar’s dominion, straddling the Realms of Life and Fire through a massive realmgate – but even this stronghold is not unassailable. A terrible threat looms over its battlements in First Marshal, a new Warhammer Age of Sigmar novel from Evan Dicken starring the legendary Freeguild commander Tahlia Vedra.

When the sudden slaughter of a Freeguild marshal and his entire army casts a shadow over the city, Tahlia must leave her beloved Aqshy behind and step through the portal to Hammerhal Ghyra, where sinister plots are being forged by the Helsmiths of Hashut.
The spiteful Zharrdron aren’t the only problems she has to contend with, as the verdant side of Hammerhal is full of unfamiliar faces looking to take advantage of the First Marshal’s arrival, and Tahlia is all but a stranger in her own city. Uniting her people will be a battle in itself, and she doesn’t have the luxury of time – for the Helsmiths wield a power that will spell doom for Hammerhal and all who reside within it.

You can catch up with the events that led to Tahlia Vedra claiming her legendary status in Lioness of the Parch, also by Evan Dicken, in which our hero examines her past and fights against a Chaos invasion even as she navigates the battlefield of Sigmarite politics amidst allies and rivals jostling for position.
It’s a great book for getting to know the titular character, and will set you right on the path to continue her story when First Marshal releases next year.

We’ll be taking a closer look at the book and sitting down for a chat with its author as we get closer to release, so check back with Warhammer Community later to learn even more about Vedra and her glorious manticore, Infernadine.
