Every year, we enlist the wider Warhammer community to decide which two classic Black Library books will get new physical editions the following year, and today’s the day you can vote on the class of 2026.
Like last year, you’ll get to vote for one book from the 41st Millennium and one from the World of Legend. Our previous winners – Deathwatch by Steve Parker and Grudge Bearer by Gav Thorpe – are actually up for pre-order this coming Saturday, and you can check out what the new editions look like in our Sunday Preview.
Let’s take a look at our candidates for this year.
Reader’s Choice: Warhammer 40,000

Huron Blackheart – he’s been in the news a lot lately, hasn’t he? – is up to his old tricks and has his sights set on conquering an entire sub-sector, with only a battle fleet of Silver Skulls Space Marines able to stop him. Can Captain Arrun take on the might of the Red Corsairs and prevail? Vote for The Gildar Rift by Sarah Cawkwell and find out.
The city of Commorragh has barely survived a daemonic incursion known as the Dysjunction, and now the supreme overlord, Asdrubael Vect, needs to reassert his power over the dark city. The Path of the Dark Eldar series comes to a close in Path of the Archon by Andy Chambers, as the noble Yllithian desperately tries to stay out of Vect’s clutches.
The devoutly puritan Inquisitor Covenant steps into the limelight in John French’s Resurrection, as he prepares to denounce the heretic Talicto before an inquisitorial conclave. Disaster strikes, and many of the conclave are slain when a mysterious cult assaults the gathering, leading Covenant on a quest to uncover just what Talicto’s involvement is – and what the cult’s true motives are.
The Iron Hands descend on a world riven by heresy in The Eye of Medusa by David Guymer, as a schism in the Adeptus Mechanicus demands immediate retribution. It matters not that Thennos is under their protection, for a dark presence festers within, and it threatens the sanctity of the machine that the Iron Hands hold so dear.
A newly assigned Arbites officer, Shira Calpurnia, is thrown into the thick of it when tensions flare up on the dockyard world of Hydraphur and a series of assassination attempts causes chaos among the ruling elite. With unhelpful nobles double-crossing everyone they can touch and corruption rampant throughout the city, Shira has her work cut out solving the case in Crossfire by Matthew Farrer.
Reader’s Choice: The World of Legend

Ludwig Schwarzhelm, the Emperor’s personal champion, cannot catch a break. He has only just returned from slaying countless marauding enemies in the north when orders come to oversee the inauguration of a new elector count in Averland. Things go from bad to worse in Sword of Justice by Chris Wraight, as the mark of Chaos soon falls on the city and Ludwig finds even his closest allies are not beyond suspicion.
Blood of Aenarion by William King is the first of the Tyrion & Teclis books, the origin story of the greatest heroes of the High Elves. This book covers the humble beginnings of the unparalleled swordsman Tyrion and the gifted sorcerer Teclis, and their time spent in Lothern learning the arts of war.
A horde of undead horrors is laying waste to Wissenland, and the ruling council come up with an audacious plan – send Baron von Rabwald into the mountains to retrieve the Runefang of Solland, and use its power to break the unstoppable vampiric advance. Whether or not one sword can really swing the war is another matter, and you can find out in Runefang by C. L. Werner.
The Lahmian vampire Ulrika has only recently been turned – in the Gotrek and Felix novel Vampireslayer, no less – and already she and her mentor Gabriella must travel into the heart of Nuln to investigate the death of one of their fellow vampires. Ulrika’s saga begins in Bloodborn by Nathan Long, as a mystery that threatens the very existence of the Lahmian bloodline rears its head.
Uncover the mighty Sigmar’s rise to power in the historical epic Heldenhammer by Graham McNeill, which tells the tale of the god’s mortal life as he struggles against a massive Orc invasion – culminating in the legendary Battle of Black Fire Pass, where men and dwarfs stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the defence of the nascent Empire.
