Get up close and personal with a selection of gorgeous and evocative vampire hunter dioramas on Painting Desk

A new year for Warhammer fans tends to mean an ambitious new project, and one of the greatest sources of fuel for these new projects is inspiration. What better way to get inspired then, than checking out detailed coverage of some incredible dioramas created by Warhammer Studio veteran Daz?

You’ve definitely seen his work in Warhammer Community articles, and probably in the Open Category of at least one Golden Demon winners article (he also goes by Darren), but this week’s episode of Painting Desk covers his work in incredible close-up, high definition detail.

Here, Daz explains how he was inspired by an episode of Hammer and Bolter to create an awesome vignette featuring famed witch hunter Hanniver Toll*:

Ed’s also on hand to ask Daz all about his work, and how to plan out compositions that combine storytelling, colour theory, and working to looming deadlines.

On the theme of cool narratives, our intrepid adventurers are braving filth and foe as they continue their exploration of the Jade Abbey in episode 2 of this season of Questing Nights. They’ll be heading even deeper and contending with Belga the Cystwitch and her malignant minions.

In the last year, our pals at DK books have produced a number of really cool Warhammer themed books, including Warhammer 40,000: The Ultimate Guide, Warhammer 40,000 Character Encyclopedia, and The Art of Warhammer Video Games. On this week’s episode of Deep Strike, some of the creatives behind the books chat with Alex about why they set out to make them and the process they undertook to select the contents, and pick out some of their favourite sections.

Every episode mentioned above is available to watch on Warhammer TV – alongside more than 600 other episodes of Warhammer shows and animations – for those with a Warhammer+ subscription. By signing up for a year, you’ll also get to choose one of two awesome diorama miniatures for free, as well as gaining access to unlimited army creation in the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar apps. To choose your miniature, redeem codes from Codexes and battletomes, and to enter the Warhammer Vault (which is full of information from past publications) you just need to log into your MyWarhammer account.
