The Horus Heresy novels are a great series of books telling the epic tale of the Horus Heresy and featuring hundreds of mighty heroes and awful villains. They’re also a phenomenal source of inspiration for your Legion army. Kick off the saga with Horus Rising, and you’ll never look back.
Get some legionaries

The entire range of existing Horus Heresy plastic kits are compatible with the new edition of the Horus Heresy game. Get a head start on your new Legion with some perennial favourites, including Tactical Squads and Assault Squads, who find their way into most Legion forces.
The 31st Millennium had high casualties, even of power-armoured troops, so you can never have too many Space Marines.
Bolster your battleline with command upgrades and special weapons, and hold onto your spare bits, as these kits are fully compatible with the new plastic MKII Legionaries in the new Saturnine box.
Tanks and transports

The Age of Darkness features a lot of iconic battle tanks, all of which look incredible when painted up in full Legion heraldry. Transports offer your Legionaries a degree of protection and speed as they traverse the deadly battlefields of the 31st Millennium.
Every tank has its place, but for flexibility, durability and sheer brutality, it's hard to top the all-round powerhouse that is the Spartan.
Pick up a primarch

You can absolutely lead your Legion army with a Centurion or Praetor whom you’ve named yourself. One of the appeals of the Horus Heresy, however, is that you get to add the great heroes of Warhammer lore to your army.
Choose from First Captains, heretic prophets and the Primarchs themselves – with some of the most impressive centrepiece miniatures in all of Warhammer.
You can never have too many Dreadnoughts

You’ll be getting the new Saturnine Dreadnought in the boxed set, but consider backing up the big guy with some the other iconic Legion walkers: there’s the brutal combat potential of the Leviathan, the long-ranged superiority of the Deredeo, or the ever-flexible Contemptor.
