Before you make a submission to Black Library, it is important that you read and understand the following information.

The word ‘submission’, as used above and throughout the text, means anything that you send to Black Library including text, artwork and any other expression of ideas.

Who can make a submission?

Anyone 18 years of age or older may make a submission.

Is there a limit on the number of submissions I can make?

You can send in as many submissions as you like – provided that they adhere to Black Library’s submissions criteria.

Can I send work that I’ve copied from someone else in to Black Library?

Just to be clear, everything you submit to Games Workshop must be original and entirely your own work. Do not send us anything that you have copied from a third party or that has been created by someone else. We will not accept submissions based on other people’s intellectual property.

By making a submission to Games Workshop you agree to indemnify Games Workshop against all and any third party claims resulting from your submissions’ breach of a third party’s intellectual property rights. This means that you agree to compensate Games Workshop for any cost, loss or damage suffered as a result of your breach of this submissions policy.

Who owns the ideas that I submit to you?

For legal reasons, please be aware that by making a submission to Games Workshop you are agreeing to assign all rights in your submission to Games Workshop. This means that we will have the exclusive right to use your submission for any purpose in the future. If for any reason you are prevented or restricted at law from assigning to Games Workshop any of the intellectual property rights in your submission, you agree to grant to Games Workshop a sole and exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, irrevocable licence in perpetuity which enables GW to use your submission for any purpose.

It is important that you are comfortable with this before making a submission to us. Please do not make a submission if you do not agree to this.

Can I make a submission on behalf of someone else?

No – you can only make a submission on behalf of yourself.

What happens to my submission if I am not successful?

Any submission which Black Library decides it is unable to use will be permanently deleted from its records.

Will I receive a reply to my submission and will you give feedback?

Our focus will always be working on the next batch of great releases. This means we won’t always have time to personally reply to every submission nor offer feedback. We will try our best and will never rule out replying, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we’ll respond or provide feedback to everyone who makes a submission to us. Therefore, if you do not hear back from us within 100 working days (20 working weeks) please assume that we do not wish to use your submission at the present time.

For how long will the submissions window be open?

The Black Library submissions window will open on 10th January 2018 and will close on 10th April 2018. Please note that Black Library reserves the right to withdraw the submissions window, or alter the submissions policy, at any point and without notice. For example, the submissions window may be closed early if Black Library receives a very large number of submissions.
