Sunday Preview – The Lords of Undeath Return
That’s right, there’s more than just an undead horde coming this week, so the Deadwalker Zombies need to pick up the pace if they’re to keep up with all the new stuff coming our way. Speaking of which…
The vampiric lords of Shyish and their monstrous servants are here to show the Mortal Realms that the forces of Death are still going strong, despite the setbacks they suffered in Broken Realms: Teclis. With a brand new battletome stuffed with warscrolls, abilities, traits, and plenty of lore, the Soulblight Gravelords are eager to sink their fangs into anyone who would deny their conquest.
The battletome is available to pre-order from Saturday as an ebook, hardback, or one of 700 limited edition hardbacks with a luxurious soft-touch cover featuring a full spread of this incredible cover art.
It’s not just a book the Soulblight are getting either, as all-new kits for the Deathrattle Skeletons and Deadwalker Zombies are rising from their graves to form the backbone of your next undead army. Each set (which you saw first in March’s Warhammer Preview Online) is packed with 20 models and a huge array of options to customise them, ensuring your ensorcelled swarms are every bit as unique as the corpses that made them.
Not all members of a Soulblight army drag their feet, however. When it comes to speeding across a battlefield, you can’t get much better than the ferocious Fell Bats and noble Blood Knight cavalry. Where one descends in a whirling flurry of tooth and claw, the other crushes lesser foes under hoof as the skeletal steeds barrel through wavering mortal formations with sheer unbreakable determination.
No undead force is complete without a powerful vampire at its head, their dark magics holding everything together even as they slay the choicest morsels themselves in furious melee combat. Vampire Lords are paragons of their kind, able to dispatch mortal heroes with ease, and they’re equally capable commanders when it comes to directing their troops.
Few Soulblight lords cut as fearsome a figure as Lauka Vai, the Mother of Nightmares. Once a monster-hunting knight with principles even her enemies could respect, a fateful encounter with the magics of Tzeentch saw her transformed into a raging beast ever at odds with her disciplined nature. Now regarded as the queen of the Avengorii Dynasty, Vai leads her cursed kin into battle with the skill of a warrior and the strength of a monster.
As you will have come to expect from a new battletome release, we also have a set of warscroll cards and some very fetching dice coming up for pre-order too. The dice in particular are cast in a wonderfully dark black with blood-red markings, perfect for rolling alongside your Soulblight Gravelords.
Belicosa Volcano Cannon
While the undead might be stars of the show this week, the living still have a few tricks up their sleeves. In this case, you’d need a rather large sleeve, as the massive Warbringer Nemesis Titan is set to receive one of the most powerful weapons found outside a starship: the mighty Belicosa Volcano Cannon.
This resin kit from Forge World is designed to fit perfectly with the plastic Warbringer Nemesis Titan. We don’t know about you, but we don’t fancy our chances against one of those giant cannons. Although, if we had a choice between fighting that and the next guy on our list, we’d take the cannon every time.
Gotrek Gurnisson is back to embark on another greenskin-slaying quest across the Mortal Realms. When the Bad Moon rises, the unstoppable Slayer begins his descent into the heart of Skragrott the Loonking’s twisted, fungal empire in pursuit of vengeance.
Gitslayer will be available in hardback, ebook, and MP3 audiobook formats.
