Model of the Year 2018 – The Top 3!

With the Citadel miniatures studio on the cutting edge of design technology, it was inevitable that last year would see some of the most incredible miniatures ever produced. 2018’s Model of the Year was hotly contested by a number of fantastic entries. You have voted in your thousands and the results are now in. Without further ado, here are the top three, as voted for by you:

  1. Great Unclean One

Your votes for this jovial, foetid Daemon secured the Great Unclean One a well-deserved spot on the podium in third place. Not only does the model boast a scale that dwarfs its fellow Greater Daemons, but it features multiple (enormous!) weapon options and can even be assembled as the infamous Rotigus!

  1. Morathi

If we’re being honest, even if we insisted on counting Morathi’s different guises as the High Oracle of Khaine and the Shadow Queen as separate miniatures, either one of them could’ve secured a podium finish – possibly even both!

We can’t help but feel that both of Morathi’s miniatures are going to be popular entries in painting competitions for the foreseeable future. In fact, Golden Demon legend Angelo Di Chello already earned a Bronze in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Large Model category for his entry at Warhammer Fest last year.

  1. Noise Marine

This nostalgic remake of Jes Goodwin’s classic Noise Marine took the top spot, and with good reason. Not only is it a painter’s dream to work with, but the miniature oozes character – not to mention extravagance! In fact, this model has proven so popular that it’s completely sold out! Don’t worry though, we’ll be making more of your 2018 Model of the Year very soon.

If you missed our Designers’ Notes article featuring interviews with designer Maxime Corbeil and ’Eavy Metal painter Chris Innes, give it a read – you’ll get a great insight into why we’re all in agreement that the Noise Marine is indeed a worthy winner of the 2018 Model of the Year. Great choice, guys!
