Coming Soon: April’s Releases

The new year is upon us, but that’s not going to stop us from looking ahead into April at the Black Library releases you’ll be enjoying then.

We kick things off with two brand new Warhammer 40,000 novels, very different in scope and scale, but both equally exciting. First up is ‘Imperator: Wrath of the Omnissiah’ by Gav Thorpe, which brings the largest of Imperial Titans to the fore. Casus Belli is an Imperator-class Titan of Legio Metalica, a behemoth that has marched to war in the Omnissiah’s name for ten thousand years. And now, with the Dark Imperium in turmoil, the god-machine walks once more, battling cultists, Chaos Space Marines and traitor Mechanicum forces in defence of a forge world. There’s a hardback, eBook and MP3 audiobook coming of this novel, along with a lavish special edition.

The other new novel takes us back to one of the iconic events of Warhammer 40,000 history – the fall of Rynn’s World – from a new perspective. ‘Legacy of Dorn’ by Mike Lee is set at the same time as Steve Parker’s classic ‘Rynn’s World’, but follows a squad of Crimson Fists separated from the bulk of the Chapter. Trapped behind ork lines, they must survive against overwhelming odds, all the while shepherding a band of human survivors and training them to fight the greenskin invaders. This rip-roaring tale will be available in hardback and eBook formats.

Ferrus Manus: Gorgon of Medusa’ also hits three new formats in April, coming in hardback, eBook and MP3 audiobook editions. This Primarchs tale is set towards the end of the Great Crusade, and with rumours that the Emperor is returning to Terra and appointing a Warmaster, the Iron Hands primarch is determined to prove he is the son for the job. Let’s just hope he doesn’t lose his head as he tries, eh?

Next, we have a pair of omnibuses. The new editions of Dan Abnett’s Gaunt’s Ghosts series continue with a reprint of ‘The Lost’, the third story arc in the series, which starts with a handful of Ghosts on a small scale mission on a traitor-held world, and ends with a creepy haunted house – a true Ghost story. ‘The Lost’ joins ‘The Founding’ and ‘The Saint’ in collecting all three complete story arcs – the fourth being currently underway, with ‘The Warmaster’ as its latest instalment.

Also coming is ‘Champions of Chaos’, a Warhammer Chronicles omnibus comprising the novels ‘Sigvald’ by Darius Hinks, ‘Valkia the Bloody’ by S P Cawkwell, and ‘Van Horstmann’ by Ben Counter. These tales of some of the Chaos Gods’ greatest heroes are among the darkest of Warhammer Chronicles and will be a real treat for any servants of the Ruinous Powers. Both omnibuses will be out in paperback and eBook editions.

Finally, April’s new audio drama is the second in John French’s Agent of the Throne series. ‘Truth and Dreams’ sees Ianthe continue her hunt for escaped psyker Silas Norn, but a run-in with Imperial authorities leaves her imprisoned – in the same facility as her quarry. Can Ianthe face the daemons of her past and complete her mission? You’ll be able to find out in CD and MP3 formats (and pick up the first instalment, ‘Blood and Lies’ to hear the story so far).
